FULL SCRIPT:
A small group of American soldiers volunteered [music] to crawl alone into the Viet Cong's underground tunnel networks armed with nothing but a pistol and a flashlight and most of them never came back the same. You see, during the Vietnam War, the Viet Cong had built over 250 miles of tunnels beneath the jungle [music] filled with hospitals, weapons caches, and entire command centers and no amount of bombing from above could destroy them completely. So, the US military needed someone to go down into the dark and a [music] small group of volunteers began crawling headfirst into tunnels rigged with booby traps, poisonous snakes, scorpions, [music] and enemy waiting just around the corner. They called themselves the tunnel rats and there were only about 100 of them in the entire war. Armed with just a pistol and a flashlight, they moved through complete darkness where a single wrong step could trigger a grenade or a pit of sharpened stakes left behind specifically for them. But, they kept going down and by the end of the war, the tunnel rats had eliminated over 12,000 enemy fighters and uncovered enough intelligence to change the course of entire battles.

[000.00] A small group of American soldiers
[001.76] volunteered [music] to crawl alone into
[003.12] the Viet Cong's underground tunnel
[004.60] networks armed with nothing but a pistol
[006.56] and a flashlight and most of them never
[008.24] came back the same. You see, during the
[010.08] Vietnam War, the Viet Cong had built
[011.96] over 250 miles of tunnels beneath the
[014.24] jungle [music] filled with hospitals,
[015.76] weapons caches, and entire command
[017.60] centers and no amount of bombing from
[019.28] above could destroy them completely. So,
[021.12] the US military needed someone to go
[022.96] down into the dark and a [music] small
[024.56] group of volunteers began crawling
[026.28] headfirst into tunnels rigged with booby
[028.28] traps, poisonous snakes, scorpions,
[030.13] [music] and enemy waiting just around
[032.36] the corner. They called themselves the
[033.96] tunnel rats and there were only about
[035.72] 100 of them in the entire war. Armed
[037.96] with just a pistol and a flashlight,
[039.48] they moved through complete darkness
[041.04] where a single wrong step could trigger
[042.68] a grenade or a pit of sharpened stakes
[044.76] left behind specifically for them. But,
[046.68] they kept going down and by the end of
[048.24] the war, the tunnel rats had eliminated
[050.12] over 12,000 enemy fighters and uncovered
[052.52] enough intelligence to change the course
[054.32] of entire battles.
